Arkansas Air and Military Museum

At the Arkansas Air and Military Museum, WCMGs plant and maintain landscaped areas in front of the museum’s historic 1940s wooden hangar. Low-maintenance annuals and perennials with patriotic colors are used when possible.

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

At the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, WCMGs work in the gardens under the supervision of a head gardener, help in the Butterfly House, and assist with programs, events, and office work.
Compost Demonstration Site

WCMGS maintain the site, provide composting programs for school classes and the public, and promote awareness about composting as a means of waste management for the backyard gardener and homeowner.
Elkins Community Center

WCMGs plant and maintain beds at the Elkins Community Center, the Elkins Library, and the Elkins Senior Center.
Garden Explorers
Washington County Extension Office

WCMGs lead kids ages 5 to 10 in activities designed to spark interest in the natural world. Youth participants can earn merit pins on a variety of gardening, nature, and environmental topics.
Garden Gate Tour

WCMGs plan the tour, which showcases a variety of private and community gardens as well as selected Master Gardener sanctioned projects.
Headquarters House Gardens

118 E. Dickson Street, Fayetteville.
WCMGs plan, design, and maintain heirloom gardens at Headquarters House, an 1853 Greek revival home owned by the Washington County Historical Society. Plantings include perennial and annual flowers, shrubs, vegetables, and herbs.
Junior Master Gardeners 4-H Club
Rotates between Pauline Whitaker Center and Washington County Extension Office
WCMGs work with 4-H leaders to assist youth with gardening projects that can be entered in the Washington County Fair. The club specializes in learning about the benefit of worms in gardens and yards. Other youth activities include learning parliamentary procedure and public speaking.
Lincoln Community Garden

WCMGs work with youth and civic groups to plant and maintain the garden and assist with school tours. All produce from the garden is donated to local charitable organizations.
Prairie Grove Battlefield Neighbor's Garden

At Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park, WCMGs plan and maintain a heritage herb garden inspired by herbs used in the 19th century for culinary, medicinal and textile purposes. We also present public education programming, assist with park-sponsored events, and conduct research related to historic gardening practices.

WCMGs maintain the original plantings as possible while adding in native pollinator plants and educating the community on the importance of using native species and attracting pollinators.

Shiloh Museum of Ozark History

At the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, WCMGs plant and maintain historically appropriate gardens and native plantings with an emphasis on pollinator plants.
Veterans Hospital Garden
Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, 1100 N. College Avenue, Fayetteville
WCMGs partner with volunteer veterans to plant and maintain a raised-bed garden for food-insecure veterans. Along with a vegetable garden, the project includes a composting area, gazebo, walking trail, and healing garden.

WCMGs maintain the grounds of the Extension Office, home of our Master Gardener organization. The project includes native trees and shrubs, a monarch waystation, and decorative features.
Washington County Fair

WCMGs help with supervision of the fair’s horticulture divisions, spruce up the Horticulture Building and nearby grounds before and after the fair, check in entries, assist with judging, maintain an information booth, and sell new and used items donated by Master Gardeners.
